A machine is trained on thousands of microscopic images from the Center for Disease Control, which maintains a database of biosecurity threats. Two neural networks are pitted against each other, one trying to forge images, the other attempting to distinguish the authentic from the fake. The result is a machine which gradually learns to create new representations of biological threats.
